Samsung Galaxy S7 S7 Edge, Should You Upgrade

Samsung has finally unvield its latest flagship phone at MWC in barcelona. The all new Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, no more plus or edge plus. Well, is this “The” phone for you though.

Even though the decision is all yours, i can for sure help you decide whether or not you should but samsung s7.

So what do you get for upgrading to the company’s latest flagship.

  • Ergonomic design
  • Bigger battery
  • Water and dust resistant
  • Better camera
  • External SD card slot
  • Better use of the edge display on the s7 edge

Though there have not been some drastic improvement and changes, the phone is a beast when it comes to performance and usability.

Should you upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S7 though?? Well, depends. Let me explain.

To start from quickly skim through the below mentioned questions and see where you stand.

  • What phone are you using and what operating system are you using.
  • Are you a previous Samsung galaxy user
  • What is your budget
  • What do you mostly use your phone for and so on and so forth.

I personally own a Samsung galaxy s5 and have been using it for nearly 2 years now. Samsung galaxy s7 looks nothing more than a high end Samsung galaxy s5 with all the goodness of Samsung s6.

So I do not see it worth the upgrade. But if you are a new user to the galaxy line or the S line, you should definitely go for it. I bet you will not regret it at all.

Samsung galaxy s7 features a bigger battery so if you are on your phone most of the time, it should provide enough juice for you to last the whole day. More than that, I would not be looking forward to it. Rumors were that the company is supposedly going to ship the phone with a battery pack for the extra kick of juice, but since that did not happen. You are looking at a 3000 mAh battery on galaxy s7 and 3600 mAh on s7 edge.

One of the biggest issues I thought s6 had was the micro SD extension slot. Well, I do not use a external SD card for much of my stuff. But still it feels good to know that you can hook up to more storage at any moment you need to without worrying to delete old files and memories. One can get upto 200 GB of extra storage on SD card.

Finally s7 and s7 edge are water and dust resistant. 30 minutes under 1m depth to be exact. Though I would not recommend you to take you phone under water or even where there is too much dust, but it is always good to know that your phone will be safe under those worse circumstances.

The camera has also been upgraded, now the device packs a multiple sensor. Low light performance looks phenomenal even though the camera is only 12 MP as compared to previous 16 MP on samsung S6. The phone finally supports optical image stabilization too, which will handle minor hand movements while taking a still picture.

Final verdict,

It is a no brainer that the phone is definitely worth the money. But the only doubt I would have before getting one is that what you are looking for in a phone and also regarding the fact if you are already using some of the recent flagships from samsung and want to upgrade for some improvements here and there.
